Software firm thrives at Business Center

A native of France who moved to Ohio to study computer science at Ohio State University, Olivier Fischer went to work for Procter & Gamble for several years before striking out on his own. Fischer has found a business home at the Hamilton County Business Center, where he has started two companies, both of which streamline the laborious and time-consuming process of printing text and graphics accurately onto product packaging.

His first company, Transmissions LLC, offers a software product that streamlines the translation of complex graphic files for consumer products into other languages.  That product is now being sold in 22 countries and won an Emerging Technology Award from the Ohio governor's office in 2005.

His newest company, Ubelix, has developed a second-generation product that manages text and artwork in product packaging. Achieving consistency, accuracy, and efficiency in product text and graphics can be difficult with all the people that are involved in the process and the numerous updates and changes that occur.  Ubelix streamlines the work flow, greatly improves efficiency and speed and helps ensure accuracy. The product recently received a major vote of confidence when Fischer signed a reseller agreement with Kodak.

HCBC Director Patrick Longo worked with Fischer for more than a year to help secure the Kodak transaction and help develop Ubelix so it would capture the interest of Rochester, N.Y.-based giant

Longo also created valuable connections, introducing Fischer and his team to Cincinnati early-stage funder and accelerator Cincy Tech and their executives-in-residence, to seek their expertise and advice on the product and the Kodak opportunity.  

HCBC also provided counsel to Olivier and his team during the negotiations.
