Business leverages HCDC’s various programs

Schools and colleges are required to train their personnel in safety and emergency measures, but the training can be expensive and training methods have not always been tailored to the specific needs of schools.
That’s where Scenario Learning comes in. To fill the void, Brian Taylor and Greg Estep developed the SafeSchools suite of online training courses to specifically meet the needs of academic institutions. The company graduated from the Hamilton County Business Center in 2008 and has grown to serve customers in all 50 states and internationally.
The number of school districts the company works with has grown from 50 in its first year to 1,500, says President Brian Taylor. “There are lots of e-learning products, but none specialized for schools,” he says
Upon commencing its exit strategy from HCBC, Scenario Learning decided to leverage another of HCDC’s business friendly programs, the SBA 504 Lending Program. This program supplied 40% of the capital needed in the form of a 20 year note with the remainder of the debt supplied by Huntington Bank. The longer term note of the SBA 504 Program allowed Scenario Learning to acquire the building it coveted to grow its business. The company moved into its Silverton location in 2008.
“We’re proud to have assisted Scenario Learning in their early stages and help them connect to the SBA 504 Program to support the next stage of their growth!” says Patrick Longo, director of the Hamilton County Business Center.
