What is HCDC’s Business Center?
The Business Center is a non-profit economic development entity that focuses its energies on the creation, development, and growth of Greater Cincinnati’s entrepreneurial endeavors. The Business Center is a mixed-use, technology-focused incubator. Since 1989, the Business Center has served over 300 start-up or early stage companies. 

What is an incubator?
An incubator is a physical location where an entrepreneur can develop and grow one’s business through the following: flexible space, access to administrative services, access to quality business consultation, and exposure to a vibrant entrepreneurial atmosphere. HCDC’s Business Center is one of the largest and most successful incubators in the United States.

What types of business assistance are available?
The Business Center offers a variety of business assistance to its clients ranging from one-on-one consultation, to goal setting and implementation, to Morning Mentoring, to its speaker series called eKickstart, to the Business Center’s vast network of resources, like accountants, lawyers, consultants, intellectual property specialists, technology commercialization specialists, early stage seed and angel investors, banks and successful entrepreneurs.

Who is the Business Center connected to in Greater Cincinnati’s Entrepreneurial Community? 
The Business Center and its parent company HCDC have strong relationships with the Ohio Department of Development,  CincyTech, The Circuit, Cintrifuse, TechSolve, Brandery, Innov8 for Health, Queen City Angels, Cincinnati Minority Business Collaborative, Product Development and Managament Association, Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, Greater Cincinnati Venture Association, University of Cincinnati, Xavier University, and Miami University.

Are there any cost saving services at the Business Center? 
The Business Center has struck agreements with FEDEX, Peak10, the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, Cincinnati Bell, and Paycor for discounted services.

How successful is the Business Center at graduating its clients? 
Since its first graduate in 1991, the Business Center has successfully graduated over 140 businesses to the Southwest Ohio marketplace. That gives the Business Center a success rate of nearly 70%. According to a recent US Small Business Administration survey, the average “unassisted” business start-up has approximately a 10-15% chance of seeing its 5th anniversary. Thus, the Business Center has a proven track record that is 5 to 7 times better than the national average.

What type of space is available?
The Business Center is actually a campus containing 4 acres of land and 2 large multi-purpose buildings. Office, CoWorks, Workshop, High Bay, Light Manufacturing, and Warehouse space is available. Sizes range from 150 to 1,500 square feet.

What are the costs for participating in the HCDC Business Incubation Program?
The Business Center charges all participants in its Incubation Program a rent that is below market averages for Southwest Ohio. Besides receiving space, a client receives “no-charge” access to all business assistance programming, counseling, and seminars. Both the large and small conference rooms are available at no cost. Electric, janitorial, after hour security system, post office box, and parking are all included in the rent.
