What is Hamilton County Business Center
(HCBC)? HCBC is a non-profit economic development
entity that focuses its energies on the creation, development, and growth of
Greater Cincinnati's entrepreneurial endeavors. HCBC is a mixed-use, technology-focused incubator. Since 1989, HCBC has served over 210 start-up or
early stage companies. Although not part of Hamilton County Government, HCBC is
well connected in the Greater Cincinnati community.
What is an incubator? An incubator is a physical location where an entrepreneur can develop
and grow one's business through the following: flexible space, access to
administrative services, access to quality business consultation, and exposure
to a vibrant entrepreneurial atmosphere. The Hamilton County Business Center is
one of the largest and most successful incubators in the United States. What types of business assistance are
available? HCBC offers a variety of business
assistance to its clients ranging from one-on-one consultation, to goal setting and implementation, to Morning Mentoring and SoundingBoard, to the Regional Entrepreneurs Forum, to HCBC's vast network of resources,
like accountants, lawyers, consultants, intellectual property specialists,
technology commercialization specialists, and successful
entrepreneurs. Is there any new
programming at HCBC? HCBC is in the process of rolling out a new "out reach" program that will allow technology oriented start up ventures to gain access to HCBC programming without being located physically in the incubator. This program will be operated in conjunction with CincyTech USA.
Are there any new cost saving services at HCBC? HCBC has struck agreements with FEDEX, the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, Cort Furniture Rental, Cincinnati Bell, and Paycor for discounted services.
Please contact the Main Office at HCBC to learn how to take advantage of these relationships.
How successful
is HCBC at graduating its clients? Since its
first graduate in 1991, HCBC has successfully graduated over 100 businesses to
the Southwest Ohio marketplace. That gives HCBC a success rate of nearly 70%.
According to a recent US Small Business Administration survey, the average
"unassisted" business start-up has approximately a 10-15% chance of seeing its
5th anniversary. Thus, HCBC has a proven track record that is 5 to 7 times
better than the national average. What type of space is available? HCBC is
actually a campus containing 4 acres of land and 2 large multi-purpose
buildings. Office, workshop, high bay, light manufacturing, and warehouse space
is available. Sizes range from 150 to 1,500 square feet.
What are the costs for participating
in the HCBC Business Incubation Program? HCBC charges all participants
in its Incubation Program a rent that is below market averages for Southwest
Ohio. Besides receiving space, a client receives "no-charge" access to all
business assistance programming, counseling, and seminars. Both the large and
small conference rooms are available at no cost. Utilities, janitorial, after hour security system, post office box, and parking are all included in the
rent.
Where is HCBC located? HCBC is
located in Norwood, Ohio, just north of the City of Cincinnati at 1776 Mentor
Avenue. Our phone number is (513) 631-8292.
