How long does it take to process an enterprise zone application?
The standard time we allow to process an application, barring any special circumstances, is 4-6 weeks.
When can I begin the project?
The project cannot begin until AFTER the enterprise zone application
has been approved by the Hamilton County Board of Commissioners and the
local community. The Economic Development Office can assist you with
planning your time frame.
How do I determine what the benefits to my company will be if I participate in this program?
The Economic Development Office will be able to help your company with tax estimates.
Can this information be kept confidential?
Yes. The Economic Development Office can enter into confidential
preliminary discussions with a company to determine if the program is
applicable to the project. For the application to be accepted it must
appear before the public meetings of both the Board of County
Commissioners and the local community board/council, at which time all
documents become public. Will my progress on my enterprise zone goals be reviewed every year? Yes. Every year the Tax Incentive Review Council will review the obligations that the company agreed to in the original agreement and will determine if the company is meeting its goals. Can I lose my tax incentives if the project does not go forward? Yes. Each agreement is reviewed every year by Hamilton County and if a company does not meet its obligations over time, the possibility exists that the agreement will be modified, rescinded, or the company may pay back taxes foregone.
