Does the “C” in HCBC and C-Cap stand for Collaboration

The Hamilton County Business Center has enjoyed a beneficial collaboration for several years with C-Cap, the administrative arm of the Queen City Angels, a Cincinnati-based angel investing group.

The relationship has produced a variety of programs that benefit entrepreneurs in Southwest Ohio through mentoring, valuable professional assistance and networking with other entrepreneurs. Three popular programs in particular have provided actionable learning and excellent networking opportunities: Morning Mentoring, Regional Entrepreneurs Forum and the Entrepreneur Boot Camp.

Each month, Morning Mentoring seeks four companies to participate in a structured mentoring and networking session that allows each of the selected companies to make a five-minute presentation about their business. After the presentations, the companies have an opportunity for one-on-one guidance with an investor from the Queen City Angels and a knowledgeable business service professional.  The angels and professional advisors engage the presenting companies in focused dialogues about their markets, products, services, business models, stage of development and management team.

The Regional Entrepreneurs Forum, held on the third Friday of each month, focuses on entrepreneur-requested topics and offers networking opportunities among business thought leaders in the region.  Each month, 60 to 80 entrepreneurs gather to talk about what’s going on with their businesses and to hear from quality speakers.

The Entrepreneur Boot Camp is held once a year in late spring to help aspiring entrepreneurs plug into the business assistance, access to capital, and professional service networks in Greater Cincinnati.  This two-day session is packed with useful information, speakers and interaction.  The Boot Camp has become the go-to event for aspiring entrepreneurs who want to jump start their companies.

These programs are growing in popularity because the Hamilton County Business Center and C-Cap continue to attract quality coaches, professionals and business experts who are willing to donate time to further the growth of business start-ups in the region.

This collaboration allows Business Center clients to benefit from the talents of angel investors and service providers, and C-Cap to provide the Queen City Angels with investment-worthy deal flow.  The ultimate winners are entrepreneurs because both organizations believe they are only as good as the last company they assist.
