Just as in baseball, the phases of entrepreneurship seem to run in "streaks" at HCBC. For the second time this year, a client has been acquired while residing at HCBC. And in both cases, the acquiring company is maintaining a business presence in Hamilton County.

On Feb. 28, Industrial Solutions Groups was acquired by Houston-based Concentra Inc. The acquisition will allow Concentra to grow its regional office, which is located in Norwood.

Even more recently, The Hug Delivery Co. was acquired by Cincinnati-based Jones the Florist. The June 30 acquisition of The Hug Delivery Co. allows Jones the Florist to be an even more competitive player in the floral, plush animal and gift basket segments. What makes this development even more interesting is the fact that The Hug Delivery Co. is only 21 months old.

The Hug Delivery Co. built up a national presence from day one via savvy marketing methods and the Internet. In a short period of time, Candy Federl and her team were able to take the market by storm and become a recognized player. She also credits the incubator with an assist in her success.

"Being at HCBC doubled my confidence in myself and my business because the facilities were quality, the coaching was proactive, and the variety of business assistance resources were easily accessible," Federl said.

From business plan to acquisition, Industrial Solutions Group and the Hug Delivery Company could count on HCBC to be present at every base. HCBC is proud to have been a member of the team that allowed both Industrial Solutions Group and The Hug Delivery Co. to keep the ball in play. Congratulations to both companies on a job well done!
